Los Alamos Medical Center is seeking a dedicated Registered Nurse, OR Circulator to join our perioperative team within our Healthcare & Medical Services department. As a key member of the operating room staff, you will play a central role in ensuring safe, efficient, and compassionate surgical care for patients in the Los Alamos community. In this position, you will function as the circulating nurse for a variety of surgical procedures, advocating for the patient and coordinating all aspects of care inside the operating room. You will conduct thorough pre-operative nursing assessments, verify consents and required documentation, and help prepare patients physically and emotionally for surgery. During procedures, you will manage the OR environment, maintain strict adherence to sterile and aseptic techniques, implement surgical safety checklists, and collaborate closely with surgeons, anesthesiologists, scrub staff, and other team members to anticipate needs and respond quickly to changes in patient status. You will be responsible for accurate medication administration, intraoperative patient monitoring, and timely, precise documentation in the electronic medical record. Following surgery, you will assist with safe patient transfers, communicate critical information to the post-anesthesia care unit, and provide education and reassurance to patients and families. A strong focus on infection prevention, equipment and supply management, and continuous quality improvement is essential.
