Upper School Principal

Eden Christian Academy is the largest non-denominational, coeducational Christian school in the greater Pittsburgh area, serving students in Preschool through Grade 12 across three campuses. Our mission is to equip students to think and act biblically as they pursue academic excellence and Christ-centered lives.

We are seeking a spiritually grounded, visionary, and experienced educational leader to join our Academic Leadership Team as the Upper School Principal.

The Upper School Principal has responsibility for the operation of the Upper (Grades 7-12) School, including maintaining a healthy spiritual climate and academic setting as he or she directs academic, spiritual, social and emotional development of students, as well as the gifts and abilities of other members of the Upper School faculty and staff. While some of those responsibilities are shared with other faculty members, the Principal bears primary leadership responsibility and reports directly to the Chief Academic Officer. The Upper School Principal must embody Christian character, organizational excellence, and educational vision.

This is a full-time role based in Pittsburgh, PA, with occasional evening and weekend responsibilities.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Supervise, support, and evaluate teaching and administrative staff at the Upper School
  • Partner with fellow principals and Chief Academic Officer to ensure proper professional development and continual training of all teaching staff
  • Ensure educational and operational policies are developed and executed campus wide
  • Maintain high standards of student conduct and enforce discipline, as necessary
  • Work with Chief Academic Officer and staff to ensure 'Vision for Our Learner' is developed and exhibited at the graduate level
  • Ensure consistent, mission-aligned Biblical integration in academic programs
  • Follow a full curriculum, including a standard-based core curriculum. Partner with teaching staff to ensure the curriculum plans in place are aligned and utilized.
  • Plan, implement and supervise, in conjunction with the Upper School Faculty, an appropriate student activity and extra-curricular program
  • Attend events and develop relationships with Eden families and act as an integral part of the Eden community.
  • Partner with Director of Spiritual Development and Director of Student Leadership to ensure proper leadership and spiritual development of all students
  • Work alongside leadership team to uphold ACSI accreditation requirements and ensure all teaching staff maintains ACSI certification
  • Partner with CAO and Human Resources on teacher hiring, onboarding, professional development, and yearly evaluations
  • Plan and supervisor fire drills and an emergency preparedness program, alongside the Chief Operating Officer
  • Supervise cross functional teams including learning support (Discovery), dual enrollment, AP, and College in High School courses
  • Collaborate on academic budgeting and long-term instructional planning

The ideal candidate will bring strong academic and leadership experience, deep understanding of Christian education, and a passion for shaping students' minds and hearts through academic excellence and Biblical truth.

Qualifications:

  • Committed follower of Jesus Christ, active in a Bible-believing evangelical church
  • Agreement with Eden's Statement of Faith and philosophy of Christian education
  • Master's degree in Education, Educational Leadership, or related field
  • Significant leadership experience in school leadership or academic oversight
  • 5 years of successful K-12 teaching experience
  • ACSI principal certification (or willingness to obtain) required
  • Department of Education Principal Certification preferred, but not required
  • Strong understanding of faculty development and mentoring
  • Experience with accreditation processes

Skills & competencies:

  • Excellent communication, team-building, and interpersonal skills
  • Familiarity with instructional technology and current educational trends
  • Proficient in tools such as Gmail, Word, Excel, Google Drive, Canva, etc.

Physical & administrative requirements:

  • Must be able to navigate school campuses, including stairs
  • Able to lift up to 15 lbs occasionally
  • Capable of supervising and engaging students and faculty throughout the day
  • Must provide current PA employment clearances (FBI, Child Abuse, State Police)
