Job Shift: Day Travel Percentage: None

Description

Hours - Part Time 0.5 FTE, Monday and Friday 0630 - 1700, 20 hours weekly

Duties

• Work collaboratively with hospital staff to schedule procedures, organize resources, receive patients, and provide administrative assistance.
• Surgery Scheduling: Verify insurance pre-authorization, schedule surgeries, confirm surgeon block times, and ensure adequate resources.
• Patient Access: Serve as department receptionist, answer telephone calls, and register patients.
• Administrative Assistance: Order supplies, complete projects, maintain confidentiality, and perform additional administrative functions.
• Perform other duties assigned by Director.

Qualifications

• Effectively collaborate with hospital staff and medical staff members toward provision of pre-operative, inter-operative, and post-operative care to surgical patients.
• Protect patients' rights by maintaining confidentiality of personal, medical and financial information per HIPAA
• Must be able to communicate effectively and have excellent interpersonal skills
• Must be highly motivated
• Work well with a team and have the ability to function in a fast-paced environment
• High School diploma or equivalent is required
• Previous scheduling experience in a health care environment is required (e.g., physician office, clinic or hospital)
• Experience in customer service is very desirable
• Hospital registration or admitting experience is desirable
• Knowledge of medical terminology and familiarity with medical diagnostic procedures, surgical procedures, and health care billing and authorization understanding is required
• Must be able to type 40+ wpm Strong computer skills.
• Familiar with Excel, Word, Windows, and EPIC EHR a plus
• Must have excellent organizational skills and be detail oriented
• Must be highly skilled in verbal communication, problem solving, prioritization and organization
