Substitute Teacher

Shenendehowa Central School District is now accepting applications for Substitute Teachers. The District is seeking culturally proficient individuals who actively foster an engaging environment where students can develop confidence in their own success consistent with the Profile of a Shenendehowa Employee.

Shenendehowa Central School District covers approximately 86 square miles serving families from the communities of Clifton Park, Halfmoon, Ballston Lake, Round Lake, Malta, and parts of Waterford, Rexford, Mechanicville, and Stillwater. Approximately 9,850 students attend eight elementary schools (grades K-5), three middle schools (grades 6-8), and a high school (grades 9-12). Shenendehowa is one of the largest central schools in the area.

Compensation & Benefits

$165/day for Certified Teachers

$127/day for Uncertified Teachers

SASIE Agreement

Certifications/Qualifications

• Must have a valid NYS teaching certification OR
• Bachelor's Degree
• Must also have fingerprint clearance through NYS Education Department (NYSED)

Expectations

Substitute teachers will assume all duties and responsibilities in the absence of the regular classroom teacher.

• Execute lesson plans as prepared by the teacher and work collaboratively with colleagues.
• Effectively manage a classroom and respond to students with personalized learning opportunities.
• Engaging students in lessons and activities in a compelling, clear, and challenging way.
• Using real-world context and integrating technology when appropriate.
• Continually assessing and analyzing student learning, and making adjustments that have a positive impact on student learning.
• Maintain a positive learning environment for all students.
• Performs all other duties assigned by the building Principal.
