Job Description

Are you interested in being part of an innovative team that supports Westinghouse's mission to provide clean energy solutions? At Westinghouse, we recognize that our employees are our most valuable asset and we seek to identify, attract and recruit the most qualified talent while recognizing and encouraging the value of diversity in the global workplace. About the role As a Senior HR Consultant, you will be the onsite HR leader for a unionized manufacturing environment. You will independently manage complex HR and employee relations matters, guiding leaders and employees. As an important member of the Americas HR Operations team, you will support multiple locations, with a primary focus on Newington, NH and Peterborough, Ontario. You will report to the Senior Manager, HR Operations and be located at our Newington, NH site. This is a hybrid role, with the expectation of working 3 to 5 days per week to support the business. Key Responsibilities Be the primary HR presence in Newington with the authority to make day‑to‑day HR decisions, guide leaders, and resolve issues. Maintain high visibility across the plant to build trust, identify latest concerns, and address workplace dynamics before escalation. Support Peterborough through independent case handling, labor relations support, and HR guidance—both remotely and through periodic onsite visits. Partner with plant leadership to address workforce challenges, support operational goals, and ensure interpretation of policies and CBAs across locations. Influence leadership decision‑making through credible, experience‑based recommendations. Help deliver training, communications, and manager enablement sessions with the independence expected of a senior generalist. Work with leaders to strengthen their understanding of HR processes, workplace expectations, and application of policies. Be the senior HR advisor for employee and labor relations matters, providing independent guidance on corrective actions, performance issues, contract interpretation, and workplace conduct. Lead complex workplace investigations with autonomy, determining scope, interviewing involved parties, documenting findings, and recommending outcomes. Independently represent HR in grievance meetings, fact‑finding sessions, and labor‑management discussions, collaborating with Labor Relations. Build productive relationships with union leadership to resolve issues promptly, support contract compliance, and maintain a stable labor climate. Be the knowledgeable contact for government agencies or outside counsel on matters requiring HR expertise. Operate independently within the shared‑resources structure, managing cases across multiple U.S. and Canadian sites and providing expert guidance where higher experience is needed. Provide coverage and support to other locations during escalations, complex ER matters, or resource constraints. Contribute to standardization of processes and materials across the shared services team, identifying improvements based on frontline experience. Ensure accurate, case documentation and communication with leaders and HR colleagues. Qualifications Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience. 5+ years HR generalist experience. Experience providing HR support to a unionized manufacturing or industrial environment. Experience with labor relations, investigations, corrective actions, grievances, and interactions with union representatives. Experience working in or supporting a multisite or shared services HR model. Ability to travel within the US and Canada. PHR or SHRM‑CP certification preferred. Benefits Comprehensive medical benefits which could include medical, dental, vision, prescription coverage and Health Savings Account (HSA) with employer contributions options. Wellness programs designed to support employees in maintaining their health and well‑being including Employee Assistance Program providing support for employees and their household members. 401(k) with company match contributions to support employees' retirement. Paid vacations and company holidays. Opportunities for flexible work arrangements to promote work‑life balance. Educational reimbursement and comprehensive career programs to help employees grow in their careers. Global recognition and service programs to celebrate employee accomplishments and service. Employee referral program. The base salary range for this position, which is dependent upon experience, qualifications and skills, is estimated to be $90,000 to $112,500 per year.
