Job Title Italian Video-Phone Interpreter – Work from Home (United States) Position Overview The interpreter renders meaning between Italian and English speakers for a variety of industries, including healthcare, government, insurance, finance, utilities, travel & hospitality, general business, law enforcement, court, and 911. The role involves handling calls on demand and translating the conversation verbally, using established interpretation protocols. Essential Job Functions Respond promptly to video and audio interpreting sessions and conduct interpretation in a friendly, professional manner. Participate in online training and continuing education sessions. Deliver interpretation via video while typing data on a dedicated device (laptop, desktop, mobile phone or tablet). Render concepts and meanings accurately, avoiding omissions or additions, while speaking clearly in both languages. Maintain professional demeanor throughout sessions, remain calm during stressful situations, and manage privacy protocols. Ensure punctuality and availability during scheduled work hours and adhere to client instructions and confidentiality requirements. Understand industry terminology for medical, insurance, finance, law, and related fields, and demonstrate cultural sensitivity. Handle extended call durations and high call volumes as required by the organization’s standards. Qualifications Fluency in Italian and English with strong cultural competency. Excellent listening, retention and note‑taking skills. Ability to remain detached, neutral and objective on sensitive subjects. Background or experience in teaching, language assessment, translation or interpretation preferred. Legal authorization to work in the United States; must be at least 18 years old. High school diploma or equivalent. Ability to read and write both languages highly preferred. Technical Requirements Dedicated personal device for business use. Acceptable operating systems: Windows, MacOS, ChromeOS, iPadOS, Android, iOS. Smartphone platforms also acceptable but not recommended for extended sessions. Headset required. High‑speed internet with minimum download speed of 5Mbps, upload speed of 3Mbps, ping below 300ms, jitter below 30ms. Quiet, noise‑free workspace. Physical Requirements Operate keyboard, mouse and webcam for the majority of the work day. Use headset for prolonged periods. Manual dexterity for typing or writing. Ability to lift up to 26lbs.
