Job Title: HVAC Assistant

Job Description

This position supports plumbing, HVAC, and sheet-metal work both in the shop and potentially on job sites, offering entry-level, hands-on exposure to these trades. The role is designed to provide a broad foundation in building systems trades, including safety practices, trade tools, and basic blueprint/layout fundamentals. It aims to help individuals explore a career path in the trades, build practical skills, and prepare for formal apprenticeships or trade-school training in plumbing, HVAC, or sheet-metal work.

Responsibilities

• Assist in plumbing, HVAC, and sheet-metal work both in the shop and on job sites.
• Engage in hands-on learning of plumbing, ventilation, HVAC systems, and ductwork.
• Learn and apply safety practices and trade tools effectively.
• Understand and utilize basic blueprint/layout fundamentals.
• Measure, cut, and install pipes and fittings accurately.

Essential Skills

• High School Diploma or GED.
• Valid Driver's License.
• Basic math skills, including fractions, decimals, and measurements.
• Willingness to learn trade mathematics relevant to plumbing.
• Proficiency in using hand and power tools.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

• 2+ years of construction experience.
• Experience in HVAC.
• Knowledge of sheet metal work and riveting.

Job Type & Location

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Boone, IA.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $18.00 - $22.00/hr.
