Registered Nurse (RN) – Dialysis

Shift Requirements

  • Full-time schedule (clinic-based; hours may vary based on patient needs)

License Requirements

  • Active, unrestricted Registered Nurse (RN) license
  • BLS/CPR certification required

Experience Requirements

  • Minimum 1 year of nephrology nursing experience within the last 2 years
  • Chronic hemodialysis experience required

Position Overview
The Registered Nurse (RN) is responsible for the delivery and coordination of clinically competent care for patients with End Stage Kidney Disease (ESKD). This role includes assessment, planning, intervention, and evaluation of patient care, while collaborating with the interdisciplinary team to ensure optimal outcomes.

Primary Responsibilities

  • Perform comprehensive patient assessments before, during, and after hemodialysis treatment
  • Monitor and document patient condition, making adjustments to treatment plans as needed
  • Administer medications per physician orders and approved protocols
  • Collaborate with physicians, nurses, and care teams to coordinate patient care
  • Educate patients and families on treatment plans, dialysis care, and transplant options
  • Ensure safe and effective delivery of hemodialysis therapy
  • Respond to and assist with emergency situations as needed
  • Maintain accurate and timely documentation in patient medical records
  • Oversee and delegate tasks to Patient Care Technicians and other support staff
  • Ensure proper lab collection, processing, and follow-up
  • Participate in quality improvement initiatives and staff training

Supervisory Responsibilities

  • Provide oversight to Patient Care Technicians, LPNs/LVNs, and other nursing staff as assigned
  • May serve as Team Leader or Nurse in Charge after meeting training and experience requirements

Qualifications

  • Graduate of an accredited School of Nursing
  • Active RN license in applicable state
  • Current BLS/CPR certification
  • Strong clinical assessment and critical thinking skills
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced, patient-focused environment
  • Prior dialysis experience strongly required

Physical Requirements & Work Environment

  • Frequent standing, bending, and patient movement/assistance required
  • Ability to lift up to 30 lbs and assist with heavier equipment/patient movement
  • Exposure to clinical environments, including infectious materials
  • May require occasional travel to other facilities or training sites
