Senior Staff Accountant

Location: Montvale, NJ
Salary Range: $80,000 - $100,000 + benefits
Employment Type: Full-Time

About the Opportunity

LHH is seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Senior Staff Accountant to join our client's growing accounting team in Montvale. This is an excellent opportunity for an accounting professional with public accounting experience who is actively pursuing (or planning to pursue) CPA licensure and is looking to continue building a long-term career with strong mentorship and advancement opportunities.

This role offers hands-on exposure to full-cycle accounting, financial reporting, and technical accounting, while working closely with leadership in a collaborative and supportive environment.

Key Responsibilities
  • Support month-end and year-end close , including journal entries, account reconciliations, and financial statement preparation
  • Prepare and review general ledger activity , balance sheet accounts, and supporting schedules
  • Assist with external audits, reviews, and tax filings , including coordination with public accounting firms
  • Analyze financial data, identify variances, and provide clear explanations to management
  • Support GAAP-compliant financial reporting and internal controls
  • Assist with process improvements, documentation, and accounting policies
  • Collaborate cross-functionally with operations, finance, and leadership teams
  • Mentor junior accounting staff as needed
Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance
  • 3-6+ years of accounting experience , ideally with public accounting exposure
  • Actively pursuing CPA licensure or on a clear CPA track (required or strongly preferred)
  • Strong understanding of GAAP and general accounting principles
  • Experience with month-end close , reconciliations, and financial reporting
  • Proficiency with Excel (pivot tables, lookups); ERP experience a plus
  • Strong analytical skills, attention to detail, and ability to meet deadlines
  • Professional communication skills and a team-oriented mindset
